Like many of us, I find it hard to make time in my hectic schedule to prioritize creating and sticking to a thoughtful wellness routine. Even though wellness should be a major priority in my life, taking care of myself often falls last on my to-do list. And recently, my life has felt extra chaotic. I tried to think about what would motivate me or what part of wellness might excite me. I remembered in college I was super inspired by supermodel and entrepreneur Miranda Kerr. At the time, I loved the advice she would share on social media or podcast interviews, and I picked up some great food, fitness, and beauty tips that led to major improvements in my physical and mental wellness. Could Miranda Kerr be the secret to a better wellness routine, in a way that would actually motivate me? This time, I had AI on my side. To make creating an effective wellness routine easier, I asked ChatGPT to do the hard work for me by making me a custom wellness routine inspired by Miranda Kerr. And while I am typically a ChatGPT skeptic, the results impressed me.
Why Miranda Kerr?
A few months ago, I chatted with my doctor about making some health and wellness changes, and many of the suggestions we talked about were in sync with Miranda’s wellness philosophy. While I wouldn’t recommend blindly following any celebrity wellness advice, her tips and tricks tend to be very reasonable and attainable. And after seeing her in this recent interview, Miranda summarized her wellness philosophy in a way that I strongly resonated with. Her key principles are:
- Choose wholesome, organic foods and certified organic skincare
- Make nourishing choices 80 percent of the time—while leaving 20 percent for enjoyment and flexibility
- Commit to some form of movement every day
- Prioritize rest and spend time in nature
- Value family time by making space to be present with loved ones
Building the routine
As much as I admire Miranda’s commitment to health and wellness, my goal wasn’t to perfectly replicate her routine. I wanted ChatGPT to create a routine that met my unique health and wellness needs while incorporating many of the wellness principles Miranda championed over the years. To point ChatGPT in the right direction, I gave it a list of wellness principles that work well for me (essential oils), along with the ones I want to avoid (meditation). I also included notes about the type of workouts my doctor recommended and dietary restrictions and shared a brief look at my daily schedule so ChatGPT could find times in my day to incorporate my new routine.
My Miranda Kerr-Inspired Wellness Routine
The routine that ChatGPT created for me needed some fine-tuning, but it did give me a surprisingly strong jumping-off point.
Food and hydration
After hitting a major cooking rut, I needed some fresh meal and snack ideas that worked for me and my very hungry toddler. And part of why I chose to model my eating routine on Miranda’s is that, like me, she is a working mom. So I had ChatGPT specifically pull recipes Miranda shared in past interviews that were toddler-friendly and focused on some fresh smoothie ideas (since I specified that I love smoothies). I found this exercise to be a helpful way to mix up my meal planning without putting too much mental labor on my plate.
When critically reflecting on the areas of my current wellness routine that were lacking, hydration was not my strongest suit. While I won’t be drinking 32 ounces of celery juice like Miranda any time soon, I did make the switch to a big glass of lemon water each morning before I reach for anything caffeinated.
Fitness
Miranda got me hooked on barre workouts in college, and I loved the results, but I no longer have time to make it to my favorite studio. To help me find time to squeeze in my favorite workout, ChatGPT suggested: “While the toddler plays or during quiet moments, squeeze in short barre sessions—targeting core and posture.” I’m a fan of Barre Definition online classes—many of which are available in short 10-20 minute bursts—so this was a nice reminder that it’s better to squeeze in a quick workout than none at all. ChatGPT even pointed out the times in my daily schedule where it will be easiest for me to do a quick workout at home.
My doctor advised me to start doing more high-impact cardio, so I also asked ChatGPT for Miranda’s insight on cardio and was surprised at how well it adapted her advice for my lifestyle. For some extra cardio time, it is suggested that I try “chase-and-run” sessions while playing outdoors with my toddler and dance breaks at home.
This is the sample weekly workout plan it created for me:
- Daily: Morning barre (10 to 15 minutes) and toddler play cardio bursts
- During walks/park time: Mix in brisk walking, jogs, hop skips, or light jumping with your toddler
- Evenings: Follow an online barre or light cardio class (10 to 20 minutes)
Skincare
In the past year, I made some substantial changes to my beauty routine to ensure that I feel confident the products I’m using aren’t harming my body. I use EWG’s Skin Deep database to get an idea of what products I can trust—and many of the current KORA Organics formulas (Miranda Kerr’s skincare brand) are EWG verified.
ChatGPT recommended a skincare routine that my skin found soothing, brightening, and moisturizing. While I was already using and loving some of these products, I’m happy to report my skin is loving copying Miranda’s full line-up. The retinol alternative products are a great option if your skin is sensitive to retinol, and the line’s iconic Noni Glow Face Oil is one of my all-time favorite skincare products.
Miranda’s Morning Skincare Routine:
- Turmeric Glow Foaming Cleanser
- Kakadu Plum Vitamin C Serum
- Turmeric Glow Moisturizer
- Silky Sun Drops SPF 30
Miranda’s Nighttime Skincare Routine:
- Active Algae Calming Cleansing Balm
- Turmeric Glow Foaming Cleanser
- Plant Stem Cell Retinol Alternative Serum
- Plant Stem Cell Retinol Alternative Moisturizer
- KORA Organics Noni Glow Face Oil
- Noni Radiant Eye Oil
- Milky Mushroom Ultra Hydrating Mask
Diving in deeper to learn about the ingredients in my skincare routine also pushed me toward overhauling my makeup bag. ChatGPT pointed me in the direction of Miranda’s go-to makeup line, RMS Beauty. I decided to slowly replace my cosmetics with finds from the brand, and first up was the well-loved UnCoverup Concealer—which more than lived up to the hype.
Dry Brushing
ChatGPT also instructed me to use a dry body brush (an existing part of my wellness routine that I adore) per Miranda’s recommendation: “Each morning before showering, I dry body brush. I find it’s the best way to help get the circulation going, remove any dead skin cells, and energize my body. I start at my feet and move up my leg with quick strokes, then gently onto my arms, brushing toward the heart.”
My takeaway
It’s important to note that I didn’t blindly trust ChatGPT during this exercise. I requested sources for each tip and read interviews with Miranda—confirming the advice came from her—before incorporating it into my routine. Some of my most helpful takeaways were to:
- Multitask more often: I learned not to wait for the perfect moment to take care of myself. Like I’ve seen Miranda do, applying one of the KORA Organics masks, like the Turmeric Brightening Pore Scrub + Exfoliating Mask (AKA a facial in a bottle), during a quick barre workout is one of my favorite ways to multitask my wellness.
- Keep ingredients simple: Focusing on incorporating simpler recipes and beauty products with clean ingredients is easier than it seems once you have a clear plan in place.
- Find wellness in motherhood: Now I aim to blend wellness with motherhood by making the most of family walks, doing playful cardio, and finding time for grounding nature moments. If I could go back in time, I would try to apply similar principles to my 9-5 work life.
- Spend more time in nature: I feel better when I spend more time outside, and it was helpful to remember that heading outdoors is a wellness tool in and of itself.
- Set the scent with essential oils: While Miranda’s signature blend of sandalwood and rose is not my cup of tea, I now start the day with uplifting citrus scents and end the day by diffusing soothing scents like lavender and eucalyptus.
- Make time for positive affirmations: Miranda recites positive affirmations during her skincare routine. Being more mindful about my mindset was an effective (and totally free) way to enhance my wellness routine.
