In the landscape of personal training in Greater Cincinnati, long-term credibility is rare. Sustained success requires more than technical knowledge. It demands leadership, consistency, and a system that produces results across thousands of clients. That is the foundation built by Matt Wiedemer and Steve Ball, the founders and driving forces behind BEAT Personal Training.

For more than 20 years, their combined expertise has positioned BEAT as one of the most trusted personal training organizations in Cincinnati, serving a wide range of clients from athletes to executives.

Matt Wiedemer: From Elite Strength Systems to Scalable Results

Matt Wiedemer’s career in strength and conditioning was built at the highest levels of performance training. After graduating from Sycamore High School, he trained under Louie Simmons at Westside Barbell, one of the most respected strength training facilities in the world.

At Westside, Wiedemer was immersed in advanced methodologies that would later define his coaching philosophy. He developed proficiency in systems such as General Physical Preparedness (G.P.P), the Conjugate Method, dynamic and max effort training, and percentage-based programming. These approaches are widely recognized for their ability to produce rapid and measurable gains in strength and performance.

His trajectory continued with an opportunity to work under Buddy Morris at the University of Pittsburgh football program. There, Wiedemer gained exposure to sport science, injury rehabilitation, and high-level athlete development. He later followed Morris to the Cleveland Browns, where he contributed to strength and conditioning operations, working directly with professional athletes in training and recovery environments.

In 2003, Wiedemer transitioned from elite athletics to entrepreneurship, launching BEAT Personal Training. His vision was clear: apply the same scientific principles used by professional athletes to everyday individuals. That philosophy became a defining differentiator.

Over the years, Wiedemer has helped more than 1,000 clients transform their physical performance and overall health. Known for his ability to identify weaknesses and design precise corrective strategies, he continues to coach at a high level while staying engaged with ongoing education in strength and conditioning.

Steve Ball: Bridging Performance Training and Real-World Demands

While Wiedemer brought elite performance systems into BEAT, Steve Ball added a complementary dimension rooted in real-world application and business acumen.

A Cincinnati native, Ball developed his foundation in athletics at St. Xavier High School, where he was part of a three-time state championship swim team. His academic path led him to Purdue University and later Ohio Northern University, where he completed graduate studies.

Before entering the fitness industry full-time, Ball spent several years in the corporate world. That experience now serves as a strategic advantage. He understands the pressures, time constraints, and performance demands faced by professionals, which directly informs how he structures training programs for clients.

Ball’s coaching approach is centered on consistency and execution. His philosophy, “If you take care of the small things, the big things take care of themselves,” reflects a disciplined, process-driven mindset. He works with clients across all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced athletes, with a particular focus on helping busy professionals achieve results within limited time windows.

Building BEAT Personal Training into a Cincinnati Staple

Together, Wiedemer and Ball have built BEAT Personal Training into a multi-location operation serving Oakley, Blue Ash, and the broader Greater Cincinnati region, including Hyde Park, Mason, Loveland, and Northern Kentucky.

Their model is not based on trends or one-size-fits-all programming. Instead, it is structured around individualized training plans, measurable progression, and a coaching system that integrates strength training, weight loss, recovery, and performance development.

What sets BEAT apart is its ability to scale expertise. Rather than limiting high-level coaching to a select few, Wiedemer and Ball have built a team and system that deliver consistent results across a wide client base.

A Shared Philosophy: Everyone Is an Athlete

At the core of their success is a shared belief that performance training should not be reserved for elite competitors. Wiedemer’s perspective, that “everyone is an athlete, they just need the right environment to let it show,” aligns closely with Ball’s emphasis on consistency and fundamentals.

This philosophy has shaped BEAT’s culture and client experience. Whether working with a high school athlete, a recovering adult, or a corporate executive, the approach remains the same: structured training, intentional progression, and accountability.

The Result: Trust Built Over Two Decades

In an industry often defined by short-term programs and inconsistent standards, the partnership between Wiedemer and Ball has created something more durable. Their combined backgrounds in elite performance training and real-world application have produced a system that delivers results across demographics.

After more than 20 years, BEAT Personal Training continues to operate as a trusted authority in Cincinnati. That trust is not based on marketing claims, but on a track record of measurable outcomes, client retention, and a coaching model that continues to evolve without losing its foundation.

For those evaluating personal training options in Cincinnati, the influence of Matt Wiedemer and Steve Ball is evident. Their work has not only shaped BEAT Personal Training but has also raised the standard for what clients expect from a results-driven fitness experience.
