Fatima Al-Othman, the general manager at the Saudi Heritage Commission in the Riyadh region, has been making significant contributions to preserving the cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia. Within a year of her appointment, Al-Othman has implemented a national strategy to protect the country’s heritage sites, developed the National Heritage Register for the Riyadh region, and established a governance model for craftsmanship, which has led to a rise in the number of registered craftsmen in the area.
Thanks to Fatima’s tireless efforts, heritage sites in the Riyadh region have been made more accessible, which has had a positive impact on tourism in the area. Her remarkable work and leadership skills have earned her a high level of respect and admiration from colleagues and the wider community alike. Recently, she won the 2023 leadership figure award for Arab heritage bodies at ITB Berlin, the world’s leading travel trade show.
Before joining the Heritage Commission, Al-Othman worked at Saudi Aramco, where she held various roles ranging from corporate planning to government affairs. Al-Othman’s technical expertise in analyzing Saudi Arabia’s policies in the oil and gas industry led to her being entrusted with the government relations project for the initial public offering at Aramco.
Al-Othman’s experience in managing mega-projects and implementing governance models and strategies has been a valuable asset in her current role. Her expertise has also led her to participate in international events, such as the Kingdom’s official delegation at the International Labor Organization, where she studied international labor laws.
Fatima is a highly accomplished individual, having earned a master’s degree in business administration and management from Mays Business School at Texas A&M University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical science from King Saud University.
